I will give you my 5 tips to optimize perfectly your WordPress site for SEO.

Optimize your metadata with Yoast

First reflex to have: install the free plugin made in France Yoast SEO. This plugin will allow you to optimize all Title and meta-description tags of your WordPress pages and posts.

After you are installed, go to all your pages and all your articles and optimize your meta tags. Each must be unique, for each page.

The Title tag must Introduce the general theme of your page and contain a keyword. The meta-description must be longer and attract the visitor, this is what will appear in search results.

Setting up your permalinks

It must be a reflex but yet, but many site creators forget it: the structure of URLs on WordPress is very important.

By default, on WordPress, each page has a unique ID. This ID is used in the native WordPress URL. This means that a page will be able to have as URL: https://website.com/?p=348

This structure is not optimized! The URL of your web pages must have text readable, optimized, and contain Keywords. On WordPress, it is possible to define as URL the name of the page, for example, https://website.com/freelance-seo/ 

To correct this, you have to go to the dashboard, to Settings, and then to Permalinks. Finally, in most common settings, check the Item name:
